As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines
The International Journal of Applied Computer Science (IJACS) welcomes submissions from researchers, academics, and practitioners in the fields of computing and information systems. These guidelines outline the submission process, manuscript preparation requirements, and editorial expectations to ensure a smooth and successful publication experience. We encourage authors to review this document carefully before submitting their work
Scope and Focus
IJACS publishes original research articles, review papers, and case studies that advance knowledge in computing and information systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Artificial intelligence and machine learning
Data science and big data analytics
Cybersecurity and privacy
Software engineering and development
Cloud, distributed, and parallel computing
Human-computer interaction
Emerging technologies and their applications
We prioritize submissions that demonstrate innovation, practical relevance, or significant theoretical contributions.
File Formats: Submit your manuscript as a single PDF file for initial review. Upon acceptance, source files (e.g., Word, LaTeX) may be requested.
Originality: Submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
Fees: IJACS is an open-access journal with no article processing charges (APCs) for authors, thanks to our sponsorship support.
Manuscript Preparation
To ensure consistency and readability, please adhere to the following formatting guidelines:
Language: English (British or American, but consistent throughout).
Length: Research articles should typically be 6,000–10,000 words; reviews up to 12,000 words; case studies 4,000–6,000 words (excluding references and appendices).
Font and Spacing: Use a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman, 12-point) with 1.5 or double line spacing.
Title: Concise, descriptive, and no more than 20 words.
Abstract: 150–250 words summarizing the purpose, methods, results, and significance of the work. Include 4–6 keywords below the abstract.
Structure:
Introduction: Background, objectives, and significance.
Methodology: Detailed and reproducible description of methods or approaches.
Results: Clear presentation of findings (tables, figures, etc., as needed).
Discussion: Interpretation, implications, and limitations.
Conclusion: Key takeaways and future directions.
References: See citation style below.
Figures and Tables: Numbered sequentially (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1), with captions. Submit high-resolution images (300 DPI) as separate files if requested.
Supplementary Material: Datasets, code, or additional files may be submitted for review and publication alongside the article.
Citation Style
IJACS uses the APA (7th Edition) citation style. Examples:
Journal article: Smith, J., & Doe, A. (2023). Advances in machine learning. Journal of Computing, 45(3), 123–135. https://doi.org/10.1000/xyz123
Book: Brown, T. (2021). Information systems design. Springer.
Ensure all references are complete, accurate, and cited in the text (e.g., Smith & Doe, 2023).
Ethical Considerations
Authorship: List all individuals who made substantial contributions to the work. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript.
Plagiarism: Manuscripts are screened for plagiarism. Self-plagiarism (e.g., reusing prior work without citation) is also prohibited.
Conflicts of Interest: Disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could influence the work.
Data Integrity: Ensure accuracy and transparency in reporting methods, results, and data availability. Fabricated or falsified data will result in rejection.
Third-Party Material: Obtain permissions for copyrighted content (e.g., figures, excerpts) and provide attribution.
Peer-Review Process
Double-Blind Review: IJACS employs a double-blind peer-review process. Remove identifying information (e.g., author names, affiliations) from the manuscript file. Include this information separately in the submission system.
Review Timeline: Initial reviews are typically completed within 6–8 weeks. Authors will receive feedback with one of the following decisions: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject.
Revisions: Revised manuscripts must include a response letter addressing reviewer comments.
Post-Acceptance
Proofs: Authors will receive a proof for final approval before publication. Only minor corrections (e.g., typos) are permitted at this stage.
Open Access: Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Authors retain copyright and grant IJACS a non-exclusive license to publish (see Copyright Statement).
Archiving: Accepted articles are preserved in LOCKSS and CLOCKSS for long-term accessibility.
Tips for Success
Ensure your research is rigorous, well-documented, and clearly communicated.
Highlight the novelty or practical impact of your work in the introduction and discussion.
